I have honestly have never felt so ganged up on in a store all my life, and this is coming from someone who has worked retail for the last 8 years, including one of them Spencers but up near North Georgia.
It's really a shame because I love shopping at Spencers, but obviously the staff needs better training, or a new staff in general.
When I had enough I went up to the register to purchase and a guy asked if I wanted to give them my email and I would receive a coupon, and I said I probably won't shop here again. Then as soon as I was about to walk out I realized the security tag that is pretty much on everything in the store is still on the wallet. So I had to go back to the register tell them to take it off and I stormed out. If I hadn't kept the receipt I would've felt set up, but luckily I did.
When I knew for a fact I was being followed, because they were in no way discreet about it, was when I was looking hats and decided to look at the key chains. One of them was right in front of that display, and then when I moved she took one step back so she would be right next to me. In the process she tripped. All I had in my hands was a wallet, and I wasn't hiding it in anyway. I just couldn't decide if I wanted that one or one in hot topic, so I was texting my fiancé to see which one he liked more. But everyone working knew that we knew that they were following us. I didn't say anything because working retail, I didn't want I be that kind of customer or just person in general.
I know how it is, but in no way was me or my friend acting suspicious. We didn't even have bags on us. And it wasn't just one person on the staff it was literally the 5 people on that shift. I would've been more understanding if they were really slow or whatnot, but they were busy and they chose us to follow the 30 minutes we were trying to shop. They are lucky I even bought anything.
